This is an annual activity of the AEON 1% Club Foundation in ASEAN countries in general and Vietnam in particular to support Asian students to realize their dreams.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, representatives of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), representatives of member companies of AEON Group in Vietnam, representatives of the university: University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU, Foreign Trade University and Vietnam University of Agriculture.
At the ceremony, the representative of foundation in Vietnam has awarded the certificate of “AEON 1% Club Foundation Scholarship” to 60 students with high academic achievement from 3 universities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nishigori Naofumi – Counselor of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam shared: “Until now, many students receiving AEON 1% Club Foundation scholarships from 3 universities have worked in many fields and become a bridge between Japan and Vietnam after graduating. I hope that 60 scholarship students this year will follow the footsteps of their seniors, try their best to realize their dreams, and at the same time contribute to promoting the relationship between Japan and Vietnam furthermore”
Also in the ceremony, 3 students from 3 universities presented the speeches “My Dream” in English. In her presentation, Dinh Ngoc Mai – a student from Foreign Trade University said that she was very proud to be selected as one of the students to receive the “AEON 1% Club Foundation Scholarship”.
“The scholarship is not only a practical financial support but also a meaningful source of motivation so that we can realize our dreams and continue on our career path,” Mai added.
On behalf of universities with students receiving scholarships, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thu Huong, Vice Rector of Foreign Trade University highly appreciated the significance of the program and expressed gratitude for the contributions of AEON 1% Club Foundation to the development of education in Vietnam during the past years. She added “We believe that, the program will continue to be successfully implemented and can help our students in spreading kindness and care via their projects and dreams.”
The AEON 1% Club Foundation scholarship has been carried out annually since 2006 with the hope that scholarship recipients will become a bridge between Japan and other countries in the region. By the end of 2021, there are total 8,000 scholarship recipients from 38 universities in 7 countries including Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, China and Japan.
In Vietnam, the activity has been carried out since 2011, so far, a total of 1,140 students from universities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City was awarded the AEON 1% Club Foundation scholarship.
